Fall Is Here

.... and this year my goal is to make the most of the fall season itself.

God made the fall and the beauty associated with it. God created pumpkins (without faces) and colorful leaves, hay, the crisp weather, and the falling leaves.

That is what I celebrate.

God put it in the hearts of the Puritans and Separatists to leave England (and then Holland) to come to the New World for freedom to worship God without a state ordained church telling them how and when to worship. He also orchestrated he life of a Patuxet Indian named Squanto so that the Pilgrims would have an ally in the New World. And after a hard first winter and then a season of learning and plenty, the Pilgrims and Native Americans gathered together to have a feast to celebrate the blessing that God had bestowed on them.

That is what I celebrate.

With that being said, I have a few activity type goals that I look forward to planing for my family this season.
  • Going through a corn maze (field trip is already planned!)
  • Picking a pumpkin (possibly will happen at our field trip)
  • Raking leaves (Addie is actually excited about this!)
  • Taking a hay ride
  • Learning about the Pilgrims and making crafts that will help Addie remember the things she is taught (library is a great resource for this as well as a $1 book I purchased from the dollar section at Target)
  • Baking a pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins with Addie (Brian loves my pumpkin muffins)
  • Keeping our "cookie jar" consistently filled with homemade cookies.
  • When the weather gets cooler, intentionally going outside with the kids to spend time playing for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Watching Squanto: A Warrior's Tale as a family the night before Thanksgiving (a tradition that Brian and I started before Addie came along)
  • Finding a couple of movies that are Addie friendly about the Pilgrims
Fall is here!
