Simplicity- Spending Time Together

Today's Simplicity step is to spend time enjoying your family and loved ones. On Wednesday, Brian took the day off, we packed up cheese doodles, sippy cups of juice, a can of Pringles, and Elmo, and went to the zoo for Addie's birthday. Just being together, spending time with each other, talking, and laughing are such simple things, but they make the world of difference in building the relationships that are so important to us. For breakfast, Brian and I had coupons for a free chicken biscuit from Chik-Fil-A (totally thought of you, Victoria!) with any purchase (coffees) and on our way home, Brian and I shared a free McDonald's mocha (thanks for the coupon, Faye!). You don't have to spend much to have a great time with each other.

How cute is she! She enjoyed cheese puffs on the drive down in addition to having Brian and me singing all of her favorite songs. Who needs the radio!

Looking at the manatees and ducks.

There was an otter in there. Every time he poked his head up, Addie would say, "There he is!"

Not long after this picture was taken in began raining for about ten minutes. Thankfully, we had brought hooded jackets so we were able to stay partially dry.

This is after we reached a shelter during the rain.

We stayed under the shelter that this goat was in. We fed him and his friend while we were there.

This poor bird had only one eye. He was brought to the zoo because of his injury.

Just one of the blessings of spending time together.

My worn out baby. While she slept, I read to Brian from our 40 Days of Love book. Just one more way that we were able to spend time together and made the most of our drive home.
I would encourage you to find ways to spend time with your family and loved ones this week. Read a book, go to a park, make a date just on coupons or loose change (we did that once while we were dating- what a blast that was!), or go on a picnic. It doesn't have to be pricey, costly, or even cost anything. Just take some time and spend it with those you love. You won't regret it.
