The Toy Box

We all have at least one gift that we have been given by someone special and dear to us. A gift that we can pass down to our children. Addie received a gift like that on Sunday from Grandma and Grandpops L.

Pops is one of the handiest men I know. I can't count how many times we have needed help in something "handy" and have called on his services. And regardless of the time or inconvenience, he comes at a moment's notice. When Brian and I first were married, he came over and helped us install our microwave oven. He has also helped us in many other ways around our home over the last 7 1/2 years.

For Christmas this year, Grandma L came up with the idea of giving the two toddler/preschool aged grand kids toy boxes. But these were not just any toy boxes.  These were toy boxes built from scratch by Grandpops, uniquely made for the grandchild they would be given to.

Grandpops built the toy boxes and did an amazing job, and Grandma painted and decorated them beautifully.

Addie's looks like it belongs in a garden. It is really called a "blanket bench" and will be the perfect type of chest to grow with her. This will hold her toys now while she is young, but as she gets older and outgrows toys, it can become a hope chest for her.

We are starting to rethink the layout of her room. Because of this beautiful, new addition to her furniture, we want to give it the focus and attention it deserves which means changing things around a bit.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpops for the beautiful heirloom you blessed us with. We will truly cherish it.
