Mom's Notes

My mother had wanted to put together a scrapbook of the faithfulness of God to our family. She began typing up and writing down accounts of how God had been faithful to her, and then she asked me to proofread it and make any corrections that were necessary. Here is one of the accounts that she composed showing that we can pray for the simple things, the things that most people would scoff at and think ridiculous to pray about. And since my mother prayed about everything, it just seemed natural for her to pray for this as well. And in His faithfulness, God answered the request of His faithful servant Ana.

I had to decide what color we should have for our new home. It hadn't been easy. Your father and I had been driving all around, searching for a house that would attract us. We did see a house we liked, so we decided to ask if they would let us know the color they had chosen. The owners weren't home. After a few tries, I was able to get in contact with them. The colors they had chosen for their house were beautiful. It was hard to get the paint to match what our builders offered. The reason was that our builder dealt with a different company than the owners of this house used. We went to the paint store and bought a quart of each paint color that was close to what I had seen, but they turned out not to be what I had in mind. It was very hard to decide on a particular color. We prayed and asked God to help and guide us. The next day, we went to breakfast with our good friends Larry and Barbara, who were also building their first new home. Then, we all went looking around at beautiful homes, but none of them were in the colors we were looking for. It truly was an adventure, and a lot of fun. We drove all around, and it was beginning to get frustrating when suddenly we saw this beautiful home, and it was being painted in the colors we wanted. At the same time, we saw the paint truck with their trademark on it. The owners of this home were using the same painters our builders were using for our home. I felt as if God had guided us. What are the chances of finally seeing the particular color you want and the company truck you need to use in front of that house? By the way, we went into that house and the owners' taste was just like ours. Their house looked a lot like what we were building. God is concerned in even the smallest details of our lives. In everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made known unto God and the peace of God that passes all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus...God is GOOD! We didn't lose our minds and we surely had peace.

Thanks, Mom for the constant reminder that it is okay to take our smallest requests to God- even the ones most people wouldn't think God would be interested in answering- and for always giving God the credit for each and every wonderful little thing that you were blessed with. Your example has opened the door for me to take my requests to the Lord with the knowledge that He can answer them, big or small.
