Psalm 118:24- This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Well this week has been quite exciting to say the least. On Monday and Tuesday I completely took apart, organized, and put back together (after having Brian rearrange some of the furniture) our office (a full post on that coming up soon). Addie began a little hint of a cough, but nothing major.
On Wednesday I got to visit with my Aunt Elsa. Of course, we had our coffee and wonderful chat. She is also doing the December Daily scrapbook (idea from Ali Edwards), and she was able to share with me how God is using her documentation of the month to really point out His simplest gifts to her that would otherwise go unnoticed. Addie was Addie, and Aunt Elsa loved every bit of her.
Then in the evening it happened. Addie's cough turned into a full blown cold. Unfortunately, we have noticed that every time she goes to the nursery, two days later she has a runny nose and eventually a cold. We have decided that she will be joining us in the service from now on. She is generally a very good girl, and has sat through several services without incident before. Our thinking is, if one of us has to sit in the lobby for a little bit, that is less of an issue than our little girl having to suffer through the runny nose, sleepless nights, coughing, sneezing, and napless days that eventually follow.
Thursday was spent at home. We were both rather tired today. Because lying flat caused the flem to build up in her chest and made her cough, which woke her up, and eventually everyone else in the house, she and I slept on the sofa propped up on pillows so she would be elevated. Let's clarify that...she slept, I didn't.
Today, we will be visiting the doctor. It was a follow-up, two week visit after her last cold. So we will see if there is anything that can be prescribed to help us finish up this cold since the weekend is bringing many family activities with Brian's side of the family. And we also need to finish up some shopping for our "L" family Chrsitmas get together on Sunday after we all attend church together.
Lord permitting, on Saturday, our carpets are being cleaned (woohoo! wonderful coupon in the town's flyer), and we will also be meeting up with half of the family to visit Homasassa Springs. Anyone living within driving distance of Homosassa Springs may want to know that for a donation of any amount, you can go into the park to view the light displays. In addition, Weeki Wachee Springs is offering entrance to view their light displays for $1 per person. Not bad deals!
And as I mentioned before, on Sunday, we will be attending church with my parents-in-law, grandparents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews and then heading over to Mom and Pops home for a pot luck dinner and family gift exchange. That is always a highlight of Christmas for us. It is a time when we can all just spend time together, and no one is in any kind of rush to go anywhere.
So with that I will leave you to rejoice and be glad in the day the Lord has made (rainy though it may be) and so I can finish getting ready for our trip to the Dr.'s office. Enjoy todays song, This Baby by Steven Curtis Chapman.
