A Trip to the Park

Back on July 10th, Brian and I celebrated our 6th anniversary.  As part of our day, he decided to do something that he knew I would love.  He planned for us to go to the park as a family (Belinda and Faye being included in our family) with a picnic lunch, let Addie play on the playground, and enjoy a day out in God's creation.

It was a wonderful time spent together, and it was the last Saturday being what we knew as family for the last 2 1/2 years which included Faye.  Brian, Addie and I are now finding out how our dynamic as a family works, and we are falling into a rhythm of what our days and nights are- routines, schedules, and the like.

The first several days after Faye's wedding, Brian and I did experience a type of  "Empty Nest Syndrome", and we really felt the void of Faye not being here (having the time in Orlando helped tremendously).  But while we miss her, we are so excited for her and Jim that our happiness for them outweighs the "missing", and we are excited for how our relationships with each other will grow in the days and years to come.

The following pictures are from our outing at the park.

Addie loves the swings!  The swing at Grandma and Grandpa's house is the only one she rides in solo (not that anyone else could fit in it).  All other swings, she likes to sit on some one's lap.

We enjoy coming to this park.  Usually, we are the only people at the park when we go.  I like that we can play on the equipment with Addie without other people being around.

For lunch we had homemade hero-type subs with a bag of chips an water.  We also brought a lot of fruit to snack on.  Addie was happy having blueberries (blue-dees) and strawberries (frow-days).
Okay, I know it is probably not the best thing to take a picture while everyone is praying for their food, but I could not resist.  Addie is so happy about praying and very serious about saying "A-men" at the end of the prayer.   Just look at that face!

Spending some time with Faye and Addie.  Faye wanted to even out her tan, so she took Addie back out to the playground.  Addie loved it because she had another lap to swing on.

Before we left the house, Brian had said that he wanted to bring the c-a-r (spelled out).  Addie perked up and said, "Car?" All too soon we are not going to be able to spell things out!

A quick shot of the four women that Brian was outnumbered by all week.  Baby, you are such a trooper!

That evening as our anniversary date, we went to Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner and the to see a movie.  It was a wonderful day.  A perfect day.
